Create a headline for an article about this program targeted to graduating high school students. I am specifically not telling you what to do or the questions that need to be asked. Please explain what you did, why and any other reasons/justifications you need to provide to me for the headline you created. (6 Marks)
Headline – “Find Out 5 Big Reasons Why St. Clair’s Ad & Marketing Program Gets You Hired!”
Prompt 1 – (I used the first headline generated from the previous prompts, just modified it with the following prompts) “Using the 2nd headline, make it say “5 reasons why” the program “will guarantee a job” and highlight the benefit to students”
Prompt 2 – “make it more descriptive of the program”
Prompt 3 – “use less complicated words”
I chose this headline from the three generated in part A due to it being the strongest in the whole generated list, aside from the first headline. The prompts I used to create it are listed above and consist of mostly small changes modified to the specific headline. I had to justify the sentence parts that I wanted it to keep for the first prompt, as it was taking the number out – which is crucial – and formatting it in a way that isn’t the most digestible. The changes in justifying certain phrases made it easier to read and more targeted, making a specific promise as needed in most headlines. I then made it describe the program more, as it simplified it too much and didn’t include the program name, just St. Clair College instead. This needed to be changed because there must be a specific message being conveyed, and the main point of this headline/article is to convert students to this specific program. The final change I made was to use plain language writing, to make the message even simpler and more digestible to any reader. This all combines to make this effective headline, including enticing elements such as a unique number and leading sentences, pushing curiosity in order to make readers wonder how they will be guaranteed a job just from this program, in accordance with the 5 reasons listed in the article that we want them to read.
